NEW THIS FALL:  ZOOM BROOM and BASKET CLASSES 

Broom making | Jill Choate Basketry

HARVEST BROOM:

Black and pumpkin broom embellished with pip berries and ribbons.  If you are new to broom making this is the PERFECT beginning broom to start your broom making journey with.  The Harvest broom is quick to tie up and perfect decor for the harvest season.

2 hour commitment for ZOOM class Saturday Oct 23rd beginning at 9:00 AM PST.  Kit includes 1/2 # of dyed black broom corn and 1/2# of pumpkin broom corn - (enough to make several brooms) one broom stick, one broom nail, pip berries and ribbon embellishment

Start looking NOW for harvested sticks to make up all those EXTRA brooms you'll want to make up after class. 

What tools you will need for broom class:  broom spindle w/pumpkin nylon, scissors, exacto knife.  These tools are NOT part of the class fee and will be required for you to make the broom during class.

DEADLINE to REGISTER for CLASS:  your registration purchase of $90.00 must be completed by Oct 1st.  A maximum of 15 students are allowed in class.

SANTA FE SATCHEL:
Basketry | Jill Choate Basketry
The Santa Fe Satchel is a single walled basket woven on a mold that is perfect for a beginning twill basket maker.  Two-two twill makes up the body of weaving and is topped off with that fancy embellished rim.

What's really cool (and new) about this basket is the adjustable strap and webbing ears.  We'll teaching you all the tricks in understanding the beginnings of your twill journey.  

SANTA FE SATCHEL class is a FOUR HOUR commitment beginning on SAT OCT 30 for two hours and SUN OCT 31 for two hours.  You will be required to jump start your basket before class so that the wall stakes are woven in and twined. THERE WILL BE A PRE-CLASS VIDEO PROVIDED FOR INSTRUCTION on how to INSERT stakes and twine around it. We begin Saturdays class with the outside wall of the basket.

DEADLINE to REGISTER for CLASS:  your registration purchase of $210 must be completed by Oct 2nd.  A maximum of 15 students are allowed in class.

FALL TURKEY WING:

Let's talk Turkey (wing).  If you are new to broom making this is another great  beginning broom project to start with.  The Turkey Wing broom is a traditional design that is quick to tie up and maybe something to WOW your hostess on Thanksgiving? 

2 hour commitment for ZOOM class Saturday Nov 13th beginning at 9:00 AM PST.  Kit includes 1/4 # of dyed broom corn in green, yellow, red, black, and pumpkin.  One spool of yellow nylon twine.  

What tools you will need for broom class:  broom spindle  scissors, exacto knife.  These tools are NOT part of the class fee and will be required for you to make the broom during class.

PINE TREE BUCKET BASKET:

This is probably my (current) favorite basket.  Double walled with embellished trees on the outside wall of the basket.  Wooden base start with flat reed stakes.  2 bushel handles top the rim.

Please remember I live in North Idaho and classes begin at 9:00 AM PACIFIC TIME and run for two hours of instruction on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

FAQ's:

  1.  But I can't be there for FRIDAY (or fill in the blank).  Zoom class is recorded so you can watch (or re-watch) at your leisure.  PLEASE NOTE:  there is a limited amount of space on the ZOOM server for upload.  Classes will be removed from the server after one month's time or as space requires.

  2. What if I'm late to class?  Class starts PROMPTLY at 9:00 AM PACIFIC TIME (see above)

  3. What if I forget to come to class? (see above)
