Basketry | Jill Choate Basketry

THIS ZOOM CLASS IS SCHEDULED FOR MAY.  IT IS THE LAST ZOOM CLASS of the SEASON.  We'll begin offering classes again in the fall.

Hummingbird Wings:

Single walled basket with twill weave.  Wooden base start with round reed stakes.  If you haven't tried a twill basket before this is a good project to start with.  Do you have a Dragon's Wing kit at home that you want to make but your a bit apprehensive?  Make the Hummingbird Wings basket first, it will take the "chill" out of the twill.  It's finished off with a over the core rolled border and a leather handle.

Zoom class is a FOUR HOUR commitment beginning on SAT MAY 15th for two hours and SUN MAY 16th for two hours.  There will LOTS of homework for you to accomplish on your basket in between sessions.   You will be required to jump start your basket before class so that your basket is on the box mold and your stakes are woven in with 4 rows of weave to hold the basket in place.  THERE WILL BE A PRE-CLASS VIDEO PROVIDED FOR INSTRUCTION on how to INSERT stakes and get it on your box mold.  We begin Saturdays class with the twill portion of the basket.

DEADLINE to REGISTER for CLASS:  your registration purchase of $190 must be completed by April 9th.  A maximum of 12 students are allowed in class.

Your kit will be sent to you the week of April 9th by priority mail.
