Dye season is underway, with a limited run of twelve coils per size of this Fire Tie-Dyed Reed. Each batch is dyed to order. Spring weather can be unpredictable, so occasional delays may occur.

Fire Tie-Dyed Reed

This reed is hand-dyed using a layered tie-dye process designed to create bold color movement and natural variation across each strand. Starting with a base of warm tones, the reed is twisted and bound to control how additional dyes are applied and how the color travels through the fibers.

Dye is added in stages, allowing colors to overlap and interact rather than remain in separate bands. As the reed absorbs the dye, these areas of overlap create vibrant transitions—from deep red to orange and golden tones—resulting in a dynamic mix of saturated color and natural variation.

Because the reed is dyed while slightly damp, the colors feather and blend organically, producing both soft transitions and more defined streaks that add depth and visual texture.

Each coil is one of a kind. Variations in color and pattern are inherent to the process and part of what makes this reed unique.
