Dye season is underway, with a limited run of twelve coils per size of this Indigo Tie-Dyed Reed. Each batch is dyed to order. Spring weather can be unpredictable, so occasional delays may occur.

Indigo Tie-Dyed Reed

This reed is hand-dyed using a layered tie-dye process that creates depth, movement, and natural variation throughout each strand. The reed is first dyed in rich indigo tones, then twisted and bound to control how additional dyes are applied.

Color is built in stages, allowing dyes to overlap and interact with one another rather than sit in separate bands. As the reed absorbs the dye, these areas of overlap create subtle shifts in tone—from deep indigo to teal and violet—resulting in a soft, blended effect alongside more defined streaks.

Because the reed is dyed while slightly damp, the colors feather and transition organically, producing a balanced mix of saturation and variation.

Each coil is one of a kind. Variations in color and pattern are inherent to the process and part of what makes this reed unique.
