SPEARFINGER'S CAULDRON

Growing up traveling through the South, I was often told the story of Spearfinger, the witch of Cherokee folklore whose skin was said to be as hard as stone, shattering arrows and sending chills through anyone who dared speak her name around the campfire. Her story changes from region to region, but one detail remains: Spearfinger used her long, pointed finger as a spear and was said to feast on the livers of her victims.

With October just a whisper away, I sat down with fall-colored reed and wondered: if Spearfinger had a basket, what would it look like?

The answer is this delightfully sinister Halloween basket kit. Woven in warm autumn tones, it creates a charmingly creepy basket inspired by the legendary witch herself. Remove the handle and you have a perfect woven cauldron, ready to be filled with potion ingredients, craft supplies, or enough Reese’s Cups to make the neighborhood children sick before sending them home to become their parents’ problem.

It’s part folklore, part seasonal décor, and part questionable candy-delivery system. No actual liver harvesting is required. Dramatic storytelling, spooky laughter, and excessive amounts of candy are strongly encouraged.
